Nestoridio art gallery ( 2 buildings)
The Museum of Modern Greek Art of the Municipality of Rhodes opened its doors in 1962. The Nestorideio Melathro is one of the three buildings where the Museum is housed and has been in operation since 2002. The other two buildings are: the Old Gallery (building at the entrance of the Medieval Town) and the Centre for Contemporary Art (the building known as the Old Syssiteio in the Medieval Town). In this impressive building, situated on the G. Charitou square ( 100 chourmadies) near the central Elli beach , exhibits part of the collection of Modern Painting of the 19th-20h century targeting to present and promote exhibitions of Greek and foreign artists. It also hosts art events and activities as well as educational programmes in order to familiarise and involve the local society and the school community with the Museum and the Modern Greek art.People with disabilities can visit the place independently without any obstacles. There is a ramp on both sides of the entrance, and the place is suitable for those on wheelchairs and for people with sight difficulties (Braille writing available) while toilets are suitably made with easy access.
